Design Lead
I believe user experience design has an important role in leading product development and the roadmap. When designers are given the opportunity to conduct discovery research, product direction can be clarified, features can be properly prioritized, designs can built with the right end goal, and the business can save money. Many businesses still view user experience design as just the visual design, and don’t effectively utilize a designer’s skillsets. As a UX Design Lead, I value research to direct product development and drive design direction.
As a UX design lead I strive to foster a healthy design environment and help grow designers.
I’ve learned from so many designers during my career, both junior and senior. I strive to foster an environment where each designer understands they have something to bring to the table, no matter their experience level and to be open to learning from others.
I want to lead designers to understand and embrace the UX process and research, relying on data to support designs. I get to know designers and learn how they work best and what their career goals are, then mentor along the way.
As a UX design lead I understand I’m a part of the larger company efforts and goals.
Collaborating with product and business, I strive to understand business goals and needs. I help translate product requests into the UX work needed and delegate to the team. As projects are done, I push the design team to document decisions and key findings along the way that will build a full picture of the design decisions and recommendations to communicate to the team. I also help during the sales process by presenting designs to potential customers.
As a UX design lead I work with engineering teams as partners in execution.
Collaborating with engineering teams, we work together to execute designs. I work closely with them to understand functionality and feasibility. I partner with the product owners to build a process for delivering designs and setting up UX QAs with engineers to ensure designs are built to specs.
